Dear Ladies

I think women are foolish to pretend they are equal to men, they are far superior and always have been

– William Golding.

He went on further to explain that, “Whatever you give a woman she’ll make greater. If you give her sperm she’ll give you a baby, if you give her groceries she’ll give you a meal, if you give her a smile she’ll give you her heart. She multiples and enlarges what is given to her.” This is coming from a man who lived life to the fullest, and had a lot of experiences. So I’m going to politely tell all these wannabe “men” and boys to take a seat.

It’s sad to think that we live in a world were some “men” feel intimated when a woman decides to work, and earns more than they do. What’s even sadder is seeing a woman who feels the need to lower her standards to fit into society’s strata. Where’s the fun in that? Women should not only be respected by men, but acknowledged by society too. When boys try to downgrade or limit women, it appears to me as though they have forgotten where they baked for 9 months, and where they came out from. But enough of that banter. I promise I’m not a feminist. I just believe that the male superiority thing is crap and certainly overrated.

We are in the 21st century. Women are no longer trained to stay at home and do house chores while the men go to work. Although it’s an added responsibility, but women shouldn’t be defined, described, and confined to that. Please don’t misinterpret me. As a woman, certain duties are ascribed to you in a family: cooking, doing laundry, taking care of the family, taking care of her husband (if you know what I mean), etc. These duties are to be taken seriously and should remain a priority because that’s literally what the Bible says. BUT women shouldn’t be confined to these alone. Women should be able to work and be given the same opportunities as men. Women are not built for the side-lines. Anyone who feels otherwise should wear wrappers and beads and sit under the moonlight to tell stories since their brain is still hardwired to 1935. In the end, it’s all about your choice (as a woman) and what you’re comfortable with. Hopefully by the end of this year, America would have her first female president. This will be a turning point for women everywhere.

Randomly, I went online to check if the term “Ladies” is an acronym and if it has any meaning. By the way, you should know that there’s a difference between a woman and a lady. It’s not so distinct, but it’s a difference nonetheless. A woman is just basically a grown version of a girl while a lady is a woman who is refined, polite and well-spoken. So it’s possible for someone to be a woman but not a lady. After surfing the net for a while, I found out it does have some acronyms. The first acronym I saw was “Latest at Detecting Infernal Elation Scenes” and I’m like, huh? The second meaning I found was “Life after Divorce Is Eventually Sane”. I didn’t even stress myself to understand the meaning, because really a monkey with a laptop can post anything on the internet. Instead, I decided to come up with a meaning that truly depicts who a lady is. It’s more or less like a play with words. This is my acronym for LADY.

L – LOYAL

Loyalty, true loyalty, is not something that can be bought or taught. It has to be earned. Like Tasha’s character in “Power”, who was loyal to her husband till the end, even after he cheated on her. I mean, if that’s not true loyalty I don’t know what is.

A – ACHIEVERS

A lady always strives for success and settles for nothing less. Inasmuch as life throws a curve ball every now and then, giving up isn’t an option. This means a lot of hard work is in order. Today it could be getting the perfect matching eyebrows, being the best graduating student tomorrow, and employee of the month a couple years later. Whatever it is, a lady is a high achiever.

D – DETERMINED

This determination can be manifested in many ways. She can be determined to love, respect and trust you, determined to turn a house into a home. Or determined to destroy you for breaking her heart. Cersei’s character in “Game of thrones” is a perfect example of a woman’s determination. I mean, hell truly hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Y – YOUR-FIRST-CHOICE

When I say first choice I mean main chick, wife material, and not a side piece. A lady is true to herself, and never settles for less. She respects herself, treats herself with dignity, and would be damned before letting anyone treat her any less than what she deserves. She is a woman who knows what she wants and believes in herself to get it. As I stated earlier, women are not made for the side lines.

In conclusion,

“There is no greater pillar of stability than a strong, free and educated woman, and there is no more inspiring role model than a man who respects and cherishes women, and champions their leadership”

– Angelina Jolie Pitt.
